Sree Rama Temple Ramapuram

History

Sree Rama Temple at Ramapuram, Puzhakkattiri in Malappuram is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Rama, believed to be over a thousand years old. It forms part of the renowned Nalambalam, a group of four temples dedicated to Lord Rama and his brothers, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna. During the Malayalam month of Karkidakam (also known as Ramayana month), devotees undertake a pilgrimage to these four temples, seeking the blessings of the divine brothers. The temple is deeply connected with the legend of Lord Rama’s exile and meditation in this region. Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) is circular in shape, its roof covered with copper and adorned with a more golden finial, adding to the temple’s traditional charm and spiritual significance.
