This temple is located at Perumthuruthy, near Kallara, in the Kottayam district. About two centuries ago, it was the family deity of the Edamana family. The Lord was consecrated under a tree without a temple. The eldest member of the family who was also the commander-in-chief of the Thekkumkoor army, destroyed the idol of the Lord by shooting at it. The curse of the Lord destroyed the whole family. All the remaining members sold their property and relocated to Kaippuzha, where they changed their name to Aamathoor. The idol was placed in a temple. Later, the temple was handed over to the Kumaranelloor Devaswam.
more The Lord is consecrated as Balamukunda, the charioteer of Arjuna. Ganapathy, Bhagavathy, Nagayakshy, Nagaraja and Serpents are consecrated as subordinate deities. The annual festival is on the star Rohini in the month of Dhanu.
