Neelamkulangara Bhagavathy Temple, located in Mattoor near Kalady, Ernakulam, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The temple is regarded as the ancestral deity of Adi Shankaracharya and is managed by two Namboothiri families closely associated with his life. This ancient temple holds deep historical significance. It is believed that Tipu Sultan attacked the temple during his campaign in Kerala. The annual festival of the temple is celebrated on the first Tuesday of the Malayalam month of Meenam (known as Meena Chowa).
