Sree Karthikeya Dharmashastha Temple

History

This temple is at Amaravathy in Fort Kochi of Ernakulam district. A Bhajana Madam, which was more than 90 years old, was later made the Karthikeya temple. At that time, an idol of Lord Subrahmanya, made of Panchaloham and measuring 10 inches, was consecrated. It was consecrated on a lotus-shaped platform made of cement. In 1960, the committee in charge of the temple at that time reconstructed the temple. An idol made of Krishna shila, measuring two and a half feet tall, was consecrated. The Sree Dharmashastha temple was constructed as a subordinate temple, and the Panchaloha idol of Ayyappa was consecrated there. Later, a flag more post covered with copper plates was established. Separate temples for Ganapathy, Sree Narayana Guru and a Nagayakshithara were also built. They were all covered with copper plates. The temple is open from 5 am to 10 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm.
