Located near the playground on Perumbotta Road
in Elamakkara, Ernakulam, Pattamana Bhagavathy Temple has a history of over 150
years as a place of worship for the Panchamoorthikal. Over time, however, the
temple fell into neglect. During this period, the local community experienced a
series of tragic events, with 26 young individuals passing away under unnatural
circumstances within just two years. Disturbed by these incidents, the
residents sought astrological guidance. The astrologers revealed that the
misfortunes were due to the abandonment of the Bhagavathy temple. Acting on
these findings, the locals took the initiative to rebuild the temple and
reconsecrate the deity Bhadrakali as the presiding
more
goddess. In addition, the
following deities were installed as subordinate deities: Pancha Moorthikal,
Anthimahakalan, Ailakshy, Vellambhagavathy, Shaasthav, and Durga Devi. Since
the reconsecration took place on the star Avittam, the temple opens for worship
each month on the day of Avittam.
