This ancient temple is situated in Niranam, Pathanamthitta district, nestled between the Pamba and Manimala rivers. The presiding deity, Kapaleeshvaran Dakshinamurthy, is enshrined in the main sanctum sanctorum facing east. The temple holds great spiritual and historical significance, and it is believed that Lord Thrikkapaliswaran is present here as Vidya Deva Dakshinamurthy. The temple and its surroundings were prominent during the time of the famed Niranam poets, the Kannassa Kavikal. However, over time, its prominence faded into obscurity. In recent years, noted astrologer Kanippayyur Shankaran Namboodiripad conducted a Deva Prashnam as part of efforts to revive and restore the temple. A unique feature of the more temple is the Shiva Lingam, which is believed to be made of a rare stone found only in the Himalayas, making it a major attraction for devotees and visitors alike.
