Pookkattiyoor Sree Mahadeva
Temple is located in the tranquil village of Pookkattiri, near Valanchery in
Malappuram district, Kerala. Nestled amidst serene greenery, the temple is
renowned for its peaceful ambience and spiritual significance. It is one of the
sacred 108 Siva temples in India and holds great historical and religious
importance in Kerala, with an estimated history of over 1500 years. The
temple’s architecture reflects traditional Kerala style, enriched with legends
and ancient beliefs. The presiding deity is Lord Siva, worshipped here in the
form of a Swayambhu Lingam, a self-manifested symbol representing the formless
nature of the Supreme Being.
