This temple is located in Katappakada, Kollam district. The temple houses Sree Rajarajeswari Devi, who contains the essence of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara. According to old documents, the place where the temple stands today was a kavu. In the middle of this grove stood a Bilwa tree, and on it was a jasmine creeper. This jasmine flowered at all seasons and had an enchanting fragrance. The members of the Vadakkekunnath family who belonged to the Kailasa gothra worshipped this natural phenomenon as Muthappan or Siva and Parvathy or Shakthi. For many centuries, the members of this family offered pujas at the base of the tree, keeping a
more lamp on a podium. Later, this was opened for the neighbours and other devotees too. Soon, the members of the Vadakkekunnath family left for different places in the country. Many attempts were made to build a temple there. Once it had to be left half finished. In 2002, some of the members of the Vadakkekunnath family came together and built a temple with Sree Rajarajeswary as the main deity. Subordinate deities were also consecrated, and all the structures needed for a temple were constructed.
