Madappillikavu Temple is located in Mupliyam, Pudukkad, in the Thrissur district of Kerala. It is beautifully situated on the banks of the Kurumali River. Lord Siva is the main deity consecrated here. This temple, along with the temples of Lord Vishnu and Bhagavathy, lay in ruins for a long time. According to astrologers, these temples are believed to be around 2,000 years old. Eventually, a committee formed by residents took over the responsibility of restoring them. Renovation efforts began with the Siva temple. Later, land was acquired, and the temples of Maha Vishnu and Bhagavathy were also developed. Ganapathy, Sastha, and serpent deities are also consecrated as
more subordinate deities within the temple premises. The temple’s annual festival is celebrated during January-February, with the final day falling on the star Chothi in the Malayalam month of Makaram. The consecration day is observed on Chothi in the month of Midhunam. Maha Sivaratri is celebrated with great devotion, and many devotees visit the riverbank to offer bali (ritual offerings) to their ancestors. The temple continues to be managed by a committee of dedicated local devotees.
