Pandamangalam Sree Krishna Temple

History

Pandamangalam Sree Krishna Swami Temple is one of the ancient temples situated on the southern side of the Kottakkal Municipality Bus Stand in Malappuram district. The temple is managed by the Kizhakke Kovilakam Trust and is dedicated to Lord Krishna. This sacred shrine holds deep spiritual and cultural significance. Many devotees, including patients visiting the world-renowned Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala Hospital, often come here to seek divine blessings. According to legend, the temple's origin spans three yugas (ages) of divine evolution. It is believed to have been originally consecrated by Lord Parashurama during the Treta Yuga. The Pandavas are also said to have worshipped here during their more exile. The idol represents Lord Vishnu in a four-armed form, holding butter in place of the traditional Sri Chakra, symbolising Lord Krishna as Balgopala, the divine child. The temple’s annual festival is celebrated with great devotion during Vishu (Mesh Sankram), which falls in mid-April.
