Pakara Palathikkara Temple

History

This temple is at Palliyara, Thrikkur, Algappanagar in Thrissur district. Legend says that the temple was in a dilapidated state for a long time. Once Vilwar Madom King came to this temple. He was sad at not having any children and stayed in the temple for some days, worshipping Lord Siva here for his blessings. When a child was born to him, he renovated the temple and made provisions for the day-to-day expenses of the temple. Lord Siva is consecrated here as Kiratha moorthy in the passive form with Sree Parvathy. The temple belonged to a Perumpadappu man, and a branch of that family is still more living in Thrikkoor. Later, the temple was transferred to Paliyam. The temple of Vishnu had been relocated to these temple grounds from the other side of the Vattanathra bridge. Maha Vishnu with four arms is consecrated here. Paliyam later handed over the temple to a committee of the local people. The temple has been renovated since that.
