This temple is located 600 meters away from Kadavanthra Junction on the Kaloor-Kadavanthra road in Ernakulam. The deity facing the east shows both the mild and the fierce nature. The poojas are conducted keeping the ancient rituals. It first belonged to a family. But now it is under a committee of local devotees. When Mahishasura was causing untold disturbances in the world, powerful effulgence came from Vishnu and Shiva and became Adiparashakthy. All the gods gave her their weapons. She and her retinue fought with Mahishasura for nine days. She was then seen with weapons in four hands and ready to shower blessings on
more devotees. It is this form that is consecrated at Kavalaykkal Bhagavathy temple. Many devotees visit and make offerings for her blessings.
