The temple is located in Mannam, North Paravoor, Ernakulam District. Lord Parasurama is believed to have performed the consecration of the deity. The presence of Lord Parasurama is considered to be at the base of the banyan tree. There are no subordinate deities here. Hidumba, an adjunct of Lord Siva, is seen at the northwestern corner of the temple. The idol of Lord Subrahmanya is almost 5 feet tall and is mounted on a base of 2 feet. A silver golaka covers the idol. Mannam Subrahmanyan is considered the son of Mahadeva at the Peruvaram Mahadeva temple. While Lord Siva, Goddess Parvathy and Lord Ganapathy
more are at Peruvaram, Subrahmanya, who left the place in anger, is at Mannam. On the day of Thaypooyam in the month of Makaram, Lord Muruga will go to Peruvaram to the accompaniment of kavadi, theyyam, etc. On the day before the star Thiruvathira in the month of Medam, Mannathappan will go to Peruvaram and then all the instrumental pieces will be repeated. The next day, Peruvaram Mahadeva will have the arattu, ceremonial dipping of the idol in the water, at the pond at the Mannath temple. During the invasion by the forces of Tippu Sultan, the idol was taken to the Eloor Pattupuraykkal temple, and worship was offered there. There is the belief that the place was called Manra, meaning progress, which later became Mannam.
