Thodannur Siva Temple, located
in Vadakara, Kozhikode, is a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Believed
to have been built in the 11th century AD by the Kadathanad Kings, the temple's
design is attributed to the legendary architect Perumthachan. Its highlight is
the sanctum sanctorum housing a unique gold-plated Shivalinga. According to
local lore, the temple was left incomplete following a dispute between
Perumthachan and the ruler, giving rise to the Malayalam saying, “As incomplete
as the work at Ponmeri.” Known for its spiritual ambience and elegant
architecture, the temple draws devotees seeking divine blessings for peace and
prosperity.
