Swami Madam, located in
Nediyenga, Kannur district, is a unique place of worship dedicated to an
18th-century saint known simply as "Swami." Revered for his healing
powers and spiritual wisdom, the Swami is believed to have visited the village
around 200 years ago, promoting equality and abolishing caste-based divisions.
His wooden slippers (paduka) are worshipped as sacred relics. The saint, with
no known name, religion, or origin, is remembered through an annual festival
held every December, marking his visit and honouring his legacy.
