Located in Madappally,
Kannookara, Kozhikode district, Arakkal Kadappurath Bhagavathi Temple is
dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. According to legend, the Goddess and her
daughter, who came from the Himalayas, were denied shelter by the King of
Neeleswaram. After a series of divine interventions, including a miraculous
event where the estuary (Edathur Azhi) turned into land, the king realised the
Goddess's power. Following this, a temple was built at Thikkadappuram to honour
her. The temple is notable for rituals like Valiyavattalam Guruthi and Utsava
Elatham. It remains open only on Sankramana days (the last day of each Malayalam
month) and on other special occasions.
