History

Sree Subrahmanya Swami Temple, located in Koonamthai, Edappally, Ernakulam, is a prominent shrine dedicated to Lord Subramanya, also known as Murugan or Karthikeya. Nestled on the banks of the Achankovil River, the temple holds deep historical and spiritual significance. According to local tradition, the temple was established by the Shakti Bhadras of the Chenneerkara Swaroopam Tamil kings, believed to have founded the dynasty in the 3rd or 4th century CE.
