Thevalakkara is a village in
the Chavara Taluk of Kollam District, Kerala. Home to the revered Major Devi
Temple, it is one of the region's oldest and most historically rich temples. Though much of its past remains untold, the temple holds deep cultural
and spiritual significance. Many sacred texts and temple knowledge were taken or lost during the Portuguese invasion, adding an air of mystery to its
already ancient legacy. Located just 11.67 kilometres from the district
headquarters in Kollam, Thevalakkara continues to be a place of devotion and
quiet heritage, waiting to be rediscovered.
