Rishideva Mandiram & Nagasthaanam, located in Valiyannur, Varam in the Kannur district, is a sacred site with a rich spiritual legacy. The area where the temple now stands once spanned several acres and was traditionally revered as a Gurusthanam, Devisthanam, and a Serpent Grove. In earlier times, the rituals performed here were based on the ancient traditions offered in such groves. Over time, however, these practices declined, and temple-style worship gradually became prevalent. At this sanctified site, Sadguru Rishidev Sree Narendranji undertook the re-consecration of the deities, reawakening the spiritual essence of the place. Today, it is known as Rishideva Mandiram and Nagasthaanam. The history and spiritual significance
more of the site were revealed through astrological consultation, specifically using the traditional method involving betel nut leaves. Devotees who offer heartfelt prayers at this holy shrine, dedicated to the Serpent Gods, often find their wishes fulfilled. The temple represents the abode of the Divine. In most temples, the Main Deity is centrally placed, surrounded by other deities with various forms and attributes. This form of worship, known as Sagunopasana, involves devotion to God through physical representations or vigrahas. These idols are not ending in themselves but symbolic forms through which divine energy is accessed and visualised. While Prana Pratishta, infusion of life force into idols-is typically performed by Tantriks in most temples, at Rishideva Mandiram, the consecration was uniquely conducted by Sadguru Rishidev Shri Narendranji himself. Being the Source and Storehouse of Energy, the embodiment of Cosmic Intelligence, his presence and consecration have imbued the temple with a distinct spiritual potency.
