Located in Thiruvatta,
Kottayam district, Kerala, the Sreerama Hanuman Temple is dedicated to Lord
Rama and Lord Hanuman. Believed to have been originally constructed in the 14th
century, the temple carries a deep historical and spiritual legacy. It suffered
significant damage during Tipu Sultan's invasion of Kozhikode in the 18th
century, but was later restored in 1964. As with many ancient temples in India,
this temple is steeped in legend. A widely believed tradition holds that it was
established by the great Hindu sage Vyasaraja, known for consecrating numerous
Hanuman temples across South India.
