This is situated in Kuriyode, Chadayamangalam, in the Kollam district. It has an ancient history of about 900 years. Rituals according to Koula's style of worship were carried on here. Until the 18th century, there was a state called Ayoyi between Chengotta and Kanyakumari. The place where the Kavu stands belonged to this state. The Pandya king Jadilaparanthaka Nedumchadayan conquered Ayoyi. The king gave the land to a Nair family. The eldest member of this family worshipped Bhadrakali as Vana Bahadrakali in the open under a tree with a platform made of mud, without a sanctum or a temple. Even today, it is open
