Perumattom Mahadeva Temple is
a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Siva, located in Perumattom near
Veliyannoor in Kerala’s Kottayam district. The temple is considered highly
auspicious and holds deep spiritual significance for devotees. The unique
aspect of this temple is the Sankalpam (form) of the deity—Lord Siva is
worshipped here in the form of Ardhanarishwara, symbolizing the divine unity of
Siva and Shakti. Among the major festivals celebrated here, Maha Sivratri,
observed in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February–March), stands out as the
most important. Vinayaka Chaturthi, celebrated in Chingam (August–September),
is another key festival that draws numerous devotees to the temple.
