Pidikkaparambu Siva Temple

History

The temple is situated at Vallachira in the Trichur district on the Trichur - Irinjalakkuda route. The main deity is Lord Siva a broken linga facing east in the rounded sanctum. It is believed that it was Parasurama who performed the consecration of the deity. There is a tank in front of the temple. The deity is consecrated as Siva in meditation after the immolation of Sathidevi and so there are no festivals celebrated here. Previously all the temples of Peruvanam that took part in the Aaraattupuzha program used to circumambulate this temple by making the caparisoned elephants run around it. Ganapathy is consecrated as the more sub-deity. On Sivarathri devotees perform Shayana pradakshinam (roll on the ground to circumambulate the temple) to be relieved from poverty and want. Shastha at Chathakudam is believed to be the son of the deity here and hence Nivedyam is offered to him at the temple kitchen here. The temple belongs to the Deshamangalam mana and there is a committee of devotees of the area to manage the affairs of the temple.
