Plamoodu Sreerama Temple

History

This temple is at Plamoodu, Thiruvananthapuram. Lord Sree Rama is the presiding deity here. The idol is made of Panchaloham depicting the Lord ready to go to war. Such idols are only rarely seen consecrated in Kerala. Govindapilla Gurupadar, a prominent person living in Plamoodu, started worshipping a photo of Sree Rama’s coronation.  After some time, the presence of a serpent was felt and a hole made by it was seen there. The recital of Ramayana and performance of Sree Rama’s coronation were conducted there under the auspices of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Authorities of the Sree Ramadasa Mission at Chenkottukonam took the initiative and laid the more foundation stone for a temple there. The family of Govinda Pilla Gurupadar continued to light the lamp and offer worship there. Years later a trust was formed with the cooperation of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the local devotees to construct a temple. Thus in 2017, the Panchaloha idol of Lord Sree Rama was consecrated there.
