This temple is at Mazhuvannoor in Kunnathunadu taluk of Ernakulam district. According to the legend Banasura went into a penance to please Lord Siva. Banasura asked the Lord to stand guard at his fort when he appeared. Hence Lord Siva and Parvathy stood guard at his fort. At that time Chithralekha, daughter of Banasura, was in love with Anirudha, son of Sree Krishna. When Anirudha came to Banasura’s fort to take Chithralekha away, Siva and Parvathy were standing there guard.
