Chundannur Mahavishnu Temple, located on the Kannur-Mattannur road in Chalode, Kannur district, is an ancient Hindu temple believed to be associated with the Chirakkal royal dynasty. Dedicated to Lord Mahavishnu, the preserver and protector in Hindu mythology, the temple is thought to have a history spanning over 3,000 years. One of the temple’s most remarkable features is its large temple pond, recognized as the second largest in India. The temple also holds literary significance as the place where the renowned poet Cherussery is believed to have composed the epic Krishna Gadha.
