Sree Bhramakulangara Temple is one of the
oldest temples in Kerala, located approximately one kilometre west of the
renowned Sree Koodalmanikyam Temple in Irinjalakuda. Originally, the temple was
under the authority of Korumbu Mana in the Korumbussery region, before later
coming under the administration of Ponallur Mana. Historical records indicate
that the temple was partially destroyed during Tipu Sultan's invasion. Today,
the temple is managed by a local committee comprising devoted members of the
community. Although there was a long-standing belief that the temple’s
presiding deity was Lord Krishna, an astrological examination known as Ashtamangalya
Prasna revealed that the deity is, in fact, Vamanan an incarnation
more
of Lord
Vishnu. The conclusion was drawn by the mystics who conducted the Prasna and is
supported by historical evidence. Further validation comes from an ancient hymn
sung by the eldest member of the Mana, which explicitly praises and glorifies
Vamanan. The temple follows the Vaishnava tradition of worship, known for its
powerful spiritual practices. It continues to be a source of comfort and solace
for devotees seeking divine blessings and relief from their hardships.
