Sree Udayamangalam Sreekrishna Temple

History

Udayamangalam is a serene village located in Nallur, within Feroke Panchayath, Kozhikode District, North Kerala. Known for its scenic beauty, warm community, and historic temples, the area holds cultural and spiritual significance. Udayamangalam Sreekrishna Temple, situated in the eastern part of Nallur, is an ancient shrine dating back approximately 2000 years. Initially owned by Brahmins, the temple later came under the possession of Kshatriyas (rulers) and subsequently by leaders from lower societal classes. However, it is believed that the Kshatriyas acquired the temple from the Brahmins unjustly, leading to a curse that contributed to the temple’s deteriorated state. A Devaprashnam (astrological temple consultation) revealed that after proper more renovation, the temple would regain its former grandeur and rise to a Mahakshethram (great temple) status. The findings emphasized the urgency of restoration, with specific instructions to reconstruct the Sanctum Sanctorum in its original form and location to restore its divine energy and heritage.
