Located in the Upper Kuttanad
region of Talavadi Panchayath in Alappuzha district, the Panayannurkavu Devi
Temple is over 1,500 years old. The main deity worshipped here is Bala
Bhadrakali Devi, which is one of the oldest Devi temples in the region.
Dedicated to Goddess Durga, this temple is traditionally the family temple of
the Pattamana family. The temple priest is the head of the family, assisted by
his son. A significant feature of the temple is its towering black granite
Dhwaja Stambham (flagstaff), which stands at 44.25 feet. This remarkable
structure has earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
