This temple is in Thaliparambu in the Kannur district. It is believed that three Sivalingas worshipped by Maandhaathaav, Muchukundan and Shathasoman, three Rajarishis belonging to the Soorya Vamsha, were consecrated by Agasthya Maharshi at the Rajarajswara temple. These Rajarshis later consecrated Shivalingas at three places in Perunchelloor village. Shathasoman consecrated the Shivalinga on a hill named Kanikunnu which can be seen from the Rajarajeshwara temple. This came to be known as Kanikunnu Sree Someshwaram Siva temple. It is as old as the Rajarajeswara temple. Lord Siva is worshipped as Vaidyanatha here. Sree Parvathy and Ganapathy are the subordinate deities. Brahmin women are not allowed to worship Sree
more Parvathy at the Rajarajeswara temple. So, they worship the Goddess in the western sanctum of the Someshwara temple, pictured as holding a garland to marry Lord Siva. This is one of the few temples where devotees can worship Lord Siva and Swayamvara Parvathy devi. The Goddess is here worshipped as a combined presence of Mahalakshmi and Saraswathi. Lord Ganapathy is consecrated as Okkathu Ganapathy, and the consecration is close to the main sanctum.
