Kanimangalam Valiyalukkal Bhagwati Temple is a renowned temple situated approximately 5 km from the city of Thrissur. Historically, the land was ruled by the powerful lords of Panamukkam and Maliyekkal, known for their authority and strength. The temple’s trustees are traditionally selected based on the consensus of the majority of family members. Succession follows a matrilineal system, where the heirs of the female lineage hold the right to rule. Only if there are no female heirs does the authority pass to males from the male lineage.
