This temple is connected with
the Pandavas. It is believed that Lord Paramashiva appeared before the Pandavas
during their stay in the forest and a self-originated temple appeared at that
spot. There is a river Kunthipuzha that flows nearby. One part is known as
Paathrakadavu as Kunthi Devi, mother of the Pandavas, is believed to have
washed the vessels there after the yaga. The temple was under the Mooppil Eradi. When they could not continue with the management of the temple, it was
renovated with the support of the devotees by Bhaskaran Thirumulpad, son of one
of the Eradis.
