Sree Varaha Swami Temple

History

Sree Varaha Swami Temple, located in Pannoor near the Thodupuzha-Cheppukulam Road, is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Varaha Swami, the third incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu. Situated approximately 14 kilometres from Thodupuzha in the Idukki district of Kerala, the temple enshrines Varaha Swami in the rare form of Bala Varaham (child form of Varaha), a unique representation rarely found in Kerala or even across India. The temple's origins trace back around 1,400 years when Brahmins from Panniyoor in Malappuram District originally constructed it. Over time, the temple fell into ruins and remained dilapidated for several centuries. However, in 1965, it was reconstructed using the original more stones, restoring its sanctity and reviving the worship of Varaha Swami. This temple holds immense significance, particularly for those seeking remedies for issues related to land and relief from various hardships. As the only Varaha Swami temple in Middle Travancore, it attracts devotees from different districts and distant places who come to offer prayers and seek divine blessings. The temple continues to be a spiritual centre, preserving an ancient legacy and fostering deep devotion among its followers.
