This temple with special rites
and rituals, is believed to be over 900 years old. This temple is the
place of origin for 12 Naalusseri temples. The idol of the Goddess is made of
clay, which is rarely seen in Kerala temples. Though the idol is a
full-figure 6-foot one, the Goddess is worshipped in the gentle form. 96 areas
consider this as their assigned temple. At one time the temple was under the
Zamorin and the Eralpad. Later it came to be in the control of the landlords
under them. Till recent times it was under Elampulassery Mooppil Nair.
