The temple is at SRM Road in Ernakulam. According to legends a learned Brahmin once came to Rishinagakulam (the present-day Ernakulam). He kept the idols of the deities that he worshipped at Parambanaarkulangara (the place where the Paramara temple stands today) and offered pujas. Afterwards when he tried to take the idols, the idol of the Goddess was found stuck there. So astrological consultations were held and a temple was built there and the idol of the Goddess was consecrated there. Then he built another temple at Thottathingal and consecrated the idol more of the Lord there. That is the temple of Dharmashastha seen at the SRM Road today.
