This 7000-year-old, ancient
temple, is at Sooranad in Kollam district.
It is believed that Pandavas and Kauravas had worshipped here to please Shani Eswara. This legend is supported by the presence of some temples
dedicated to them in the nearby areas. The only temple in Kerala dedicated to
Duryodhana, Peruviruthy Malanada, Dussasana temple at Ennessari Malanada and
the one dedicated to their sister Dussala at Kunniratathu Malanada are near
this place. The ancient remains that are seen at the site of this temple point
to the fact that it was once a Mahakshethra. All the special offerings for
Shanideva are performed here.
