Located in Kizhakkambalam,
Ernakulam district, the Sree Mahadeva Temple is a historic site believed to be
centuries old. This temple stands out as one of the few in Kerala where the
sanctum faces west, with a flowing stream in front of it. Worshipping
at such a temple, particularly one where the deities face west, is considered
highly auspicious for devotees. The temple’s architecture is equally
remarkable. The sanctum is built in a distinctive Dravidian style, showcasing
the era's craftsmanship. Intriguingly, the temple premises feature sculpted
faces of animals and Yakshas, positioned alternately in stone, adding to its
unique aesthetic and spiritual significance.
