Padivattom Pokkalam Sree Sivaparvathy Temple, located in Padivattom, Edappally, in Ernakulam district, is a sacred site of great spiritual significance. Lord Shiva is consecrated here facing east, depicted in meditation after the events of the Daksha Yaga, where he was humiliated, leading Sathi Devi to immolate herself. Enraged, Shiva's attendants destroyed the yaga and killed Daksha, and the gods, including Brahma, appeased Shiva through worship. In this peaceful state, Shiva was enshrined in the temple. Sathi Devi, reborn as Sree Parvathy, performed penance to marry Shiva and is also enshrined here, facing west, in the same sanctum as Shiva, making it a rare temple in Kerala where
more both deities are consecrated together. Important offerings include Jaladhara, Mrityunjaya Homa, and Pradosham Abhishekam with 1,001 water pots. Devotees also perform Swayamvara Pushpanjali to Goddess Parvathy for favourable marriage alliances and Vidyamanthra Pushpanjali for educational blessings. Mondays and Saturdays hold special significance, and the temple also houses subordinate deities such as Ganapathy, Sree Dharmashastha, Sree Bhadrakali, Yakshi, Nagaraja, and Brahmarakshas. Rituals like Umamaheswara Puja and Pradosha Puja are particularly revered.
