Pattupurakavu Devi Temple, located in Kakkanad
near the Ernakulam Civil Station, is believed to be over 100 years old and
holds historical significance. According to the Archaeological Survey of India,
the temple has archaeological status in the region and is mentioned in
documents from the 11th century AD, as per findings related to the nearby
Vamanamorthy Temple at Thrikkakkara. It is believed that Arjuna worshipped the
idol enshrined here. The main deity is Goddess Durga, depicted in her gentle
form. Subordinate deities include Lord Shiva, Khandakarnan, Rakshass, Ganapathy,
and Ayyappan.
