This temple is in Kozhikode district. The warrior hero Thacholi Othenan is present here as the preceptor and the deity. All devotees, irrespective of their caste and religion, are welcomed here. This is considered the first among the Kalaris of Kerala. Goddess Bhadrakalai, consecrated here, is worshipped as Goddess Saraswathy, who blesses with knowledge, in the morning. In the afternoon the Goddess is worshipped as the fierce Porkali, the Goddess of the Kalari. In the evening the Goddess is seen as Parashakthy who protects the devotees like a mother. more here. Hence that time is considered the most auspicious for the devotees to worship the Goddess and all the Gods present there. Hence, many devotees participate in the Valiya Kalari pooja, which is conducted here, as offered by devotees or the temple. The Goddess is worshipped in the three forms at that time and the other Gods are also worshipped along with it. The Guruthy is conducted in the afternoon except during the festival. The rituals are according to the Koula system. During the festival at Kodungaloor Bhagavathy temple, the right to offer the first cock is reserved for this temple. Though the killing of the cock has been stopped at Kodungaloor, it is followed in this temple.
