History

Kavugoli Shiva Temple, located in Mannancherry, Alappuzha district, Kerala, is a revered shrine with a history spanning over 750 years. Surrounded by serene and lush greenery, the temple holds spiritual significance for devotees across Northern Kerala and Southern Karnataka. The temple's sanctum sanctorum (Sreekovil) faces east and is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, embodying divine protection and strength. The shrine was historically under the care of the Tiruvikkatti Kovilakam but is now managed by a committee formed by local villagers, ensuring the preservation of its heritage. This region is also of historical and spiritual importance. The area, known as Koodal (meaning "joined"), is celebrated as the legendary meeting point more of the Dvaita and Advaita philosophies. This confluence symbolizes the harmonious coexistence of two profound schools of thought, making the temple not just a religious centre but also a place of philosophical and cultural significance.
