History

This temple is believed to be one of the Siva temples where Lord Parasurama performed the consecration of the deity. There are no subordinate deities here. During the reign of the Kings, this temple had a glorious existence with a golden flag post and all prosperity. The Tippu Sultan attacked the temple, and the gold and other valuables were looted. It is said that the temple priest tried to cover the idol by holding onto it. But he was cut to death and the mark on the idol was caused at that time. When the temple was renovated, more the idol was covered with a Golaka, a protective metal covering.
