Kottankulangara, a quaint locality in Alappuzha, derives its name from the large temple pond known as "Kottamkulam." The area is home to two prominent temples: one dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu and the other to Goddess Bhadra Kali, facing west and featuring separate flag masts. Devi Temple, devoted to Goddess Bhadra Kali, was established in 1799, marking the end of the 18th century CE, approximately 500 years after the Maha Vishnu Temple. The idol of the Goddess was initially housed in Avaloor Madom, a nearby location, before being ceremoniously installed in the temple. Each temple celebrates its festivals on different occasions, and the Devi is revered
more as omnipotent, answering the prayers of her devoted followers.
