This temple is at Nenmara in Palaghat district. It is on the banks of the Ayaloor River. The main deity consecrated here is Lord Siva facing east. It is believed to have been consecrated by Sage Khara. The Lord is worshipped as engaged in penance and with Goddess Parvathy. Nandi, the vehicle of Lord Siva, is at the southern entrance. The temple belonged at one time to Kodakara Nair. Kulangatt Nair was the Commander of the army of Kodakara Nair. The temple is believed to have been constructed during the Pallava period. The place was called Akhileswarapuram. As Akil grew here in plenty the name Ayaloor was
more given to it. It was under the King of Kochi. Today it is under the Cochin Devaswom Board. There is also a family temple with Kodungaloor Bhagavathy consecrated in it.
