Vattaykkad Devi Temple, located in Vallikunnam, Alappuzha district of Kerala, is a revered shrine dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. This traditional temple features a Chathura Sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum) for Bhagavathi, along with subsidiary shrines (Upa Devatha temples), a Nalambalam (rectangular enclosure), a Namaskara mandapam (prayer hall), large trees, a pond, and Kalathattu (platforms for rituals). The temple compound historically included two wooden structures known as Kalithattu, which served as rest stops for Travelers. Unfortunately, one of these structures collapsed in 2024 due to neglect, and the other is severely deteriorated and at risk of collapsing. In response, the temple's advisory committee has submitted a memorandum to the more Travancore Devaswom Board, urging them to take immediate action to preserve these heritage structures.
