Edakkunni Bhagavathi Temple, located near Ollur on the Thrissur Angamaly road, is one of the 108 Durga temples in Kerala. It is situated approximately 8 km from Thrissur town. The presiding deity of the temple was originally the Upasana murti (worship idol) of Shankara Warrier, who later became the Diwan of the Cochin kingdom. Shankara Warrier played a significant role in renovating the temple. Before his tenure as Diwan, he served as the Kazhakam (temple functionary) and maintained his devotion even during his administrative role, ensuring he performed at least a small task, such as making a garland, before consuming water. Initially, the temple was owned
more by the Vadakkiniyath, Thekkiniyath, and Pallatheri families. Later, it came under the management of the Edakkunni Warrieth family, who continue to uphold its traditions and heritage.
