Sree Vithunni Shaneeswara Temple

History

Sree Vithunni Saneeswara Temple, also known as Vithunniyar Temple, is located in Palakkad, Kerala. This temple is renowned for its five-and-a-half-foot shrine dedicated to Lord Saneeswarar (Shani). A unique ritual performed here involves burning sesame seeds on Saturdays as a remedy for Shani dosha (the astrological influence of Saturn). In addition to Lord Saneeswarar, the temple houses deities such as Lord Ganapati, Lord Subrahmanya, Vishalakshi Sametha Viswanathaswamy, the Navagrahas (nine planetary deities), and Lord Kalabhairava. Temple situated on the route to Nurani, is small but well-maintained. It is particularly popular among devotees seeking relief from Shani dosha, who are encouraged to visit and offer prayers here.
