Sree Anjaneya Seva Samithi, located in Palakkad, oversees the historic Fort Hanuman Temple, one of the oldest and most revered temples in the Palakkad district of Kerala. Dedicated to Sri Hanuman Swamy, the temple has been a place of worship for centuries, attracting devotees seeking blessings for prosperity, relief from grief, and familial upliftment. Popular offerings at the temple include Vadamala, Vettilamala, and Neyvilakku (ghee lamps). Festivals are celebrated with grandeur, with highlights including Sree Rama Navami, Ramayana Masam, and Navarathri Pooja, accompanied by cultural programs like music, dance, and traditional performances such as Tholpavakoothu and Ottamthullal. During Ramayana Masam, observed in the sacred Karkidaka month (July-August), the
more epic Ramayana is recited at the temple, and thousands of devotees are served rice gruel (Kanji) and vegetable dishes (Puzhukku) at the temple’s Kadhaleevanam complex near the Rappadi Open-Air Auditorium. Thursdays and Saturdays are considered auspicious for Lord Anjaneya, and Prasada Oottu (Annadanam) is served to hundreds of devotees. Managed by a nine-member executive committee under the Kerala Societies Act, the Samithi also engages in various social service activities, including sponsoring weddings for financially disadvantaged families, medical aid through the Sanjeevani Chikilsa Sahaya Nidhi project, distribution of study materials, and the Oru Pidi Ari scheme, which provides free rice to the needy. Additionally, the Samithi supports smaller regional temples by supplying pooja materials until they become self-sufficient.
