This temple at Edakochi, Ernakulam district is around 534 years old. The date of consecration has been recorded on the stone in front of the sanctum. This stone was removed when restoration work was carried out in 1984. This is a Bhadrakali temple established by high-class Brahmins. (Aadya Brahmins) The area was under their control at that time. When the members of this Brahmin family shifted to the northern regions, the local people were entrusted with the temple. The temple is surrounded by the lake on three sides and fields on the fourth side. Water from the lake used to enter the temple during high tide.
more Earlier worship with Padayani used to be conducted here only during the Mandala period. Now poojas are offered daily. After elaborate astrological consultations, the temple was renovated and Ganapathy, Subrahmanyan, Bhuvaneswari and Brahmarakshas were consecrated as subordinate deities.
