This temple is more than 500 years old. It is
believed that Sree Durga and Lord Murari, her brother were on a journey when she
decided to stay at Palathara. Goddess Durga is the essence of power and capable
of protecting those who appeal to her. Previously the temple had a lot of
fields and land under it. Now the devotees of the neighbouring areas look after
the affairs of the temple. Sree Narayana Guru had spent more than a week in
this temple in prayer on realising the power of the Goddess. Nagaraja and
Nagayakshi, have also been consecrated here.
